Hostel and PG Laundry: Wash Clothes Without Carrying a Detergent Bottle

For hostel and PG laundry, the easiest setup is flat detergent sheets: nothing to leak, nothing to measure, and they fit in a drawer. Drop one in a bucket or a shared machine and wash.

The problem with hostel laundry

Space is tight, storage is shared and carrying a heavy bottle or a loose powder pouch is annoying. Pouches tear, bottles leak, and everyone guesses the quantity.

What works better

Pre-measured laundry detergent sheets are flat, dry and light. They slip into a drawer or a backpack, and there is nothing to spill.

How to use them in a bucket

  1. Fill a bucket with water.
  2. Drop in half a sheet for a small batch of clothes.
  3. Swirl until it dissolves, add your clothes and wash by hand.
  4. Rinse and dry.

How to use them in a shared machine

Load your clothes, drop the sheet on top, start the wash. No drawer, no measuring.

For short stays and trips home

The Travel Detergent Sheets (3) are a small, low-cost way to try this out. The 15-sheet travel pack covers longer stays.

Quick tips

  • Keep sheets dry and the pack closed.
  • Treat stains early with a pocket stain spray.
  • Wash small loads often rather than one huge pile.
